Hello,
i am new to xperf running on Win7 Enterprise. I read some posts on technet how to troubleshoot slow boot and logon-scenarios. ATM we'd like to get an idea about the general Bootup-Time of our client-machines in our enterprise, the time from poweron to post-Boot.
Using xbootmgr -trace boot i get a graph called "Boot Phases" in which I can see "pre session init, session init, winlogon init, explorer init, Post boot". With this overview in conjunction with graphs showing cpu usage, Diskusage, processes services and Wonlogon i think it is possible to get an idea of the duration of the complete boot-process.
Unfortunately it seems that this kind of trace is only available using xbootmgr -trace boot and running this command immediately reboots the machine and seems to be a one-time-task.
Is there a way to prepare some pcs in that manner that each time they boot a trace is created providing the information like "xbootmgr -trace boot" does? This would help us to pick randomly some pcs and get an idea if there are any big boottime-differences amongst locations or floors.
Thanks in advance,
Thomas
