I'm now looking at xperf stack trace, I would like to know the description of a specific function. For example, I don't know what does RtlUserThreadStart() function do. How to find such information. I tried to search the function name on MSDN, but nothing came up.

i have several windows2008r2 servers with 15-30 users on all running alot of apps, but i can seee outlook hogs the cpu's, ive colleted alotta data with WPR, but need help analyzing it and finding the specifik addin under outlook processs thats using all the cpu,
can anyone give me a few hints?

When using WPA to view custom ETW events, I see different results based on whether Xperf or Logman was used to collect the etl file. For Xperf collected ETL files, WPA correctly shows the provider and event names correctly. However, for Logman collected ETL files, only the provider GUID and Event IDs (as numbers) are shown.
For example,
wevtutil im customdata.man
xperf -start Custom -on CustomData
pause
xperf -stop Custom -d custom.etl
wpa custom.etl
==> This allows WPA to show the correct text for provider and events
However,
wevtutil im customdata.man
logman start Custom -ets -p CustomData -o custom.etl
pause
logman stop Custom -ets
wpa custom.etl
==> This only allows WPA to show the provider GUID and Event IDs as numbers.
What I'm trying to achieve is to use Logman collection and get the same wpa result as I see with Xperf. Is there a way, by either using different Logman command line options, or through some other post-processing of the ETL file to get the correct text representations for the provider and events? I'm also curious as to what the difference is between the two.

This is Harish, i have an issue in Win 7, in my computer-Tools-foder options-view-"Hide extensions for known file types- if have to uncheck ths option for every fresh login, after log off or restart this option will get automatically get checked, and i have edited the values in regedit also no user, kindly help me out to resolve this issue

Just wanted some thoughts on this subject. We have a SharePoint and Epicore server located in the US, with no ability to run fibre to the site, and we are located in NW Alberta. Would it be advisable to install either a backup domain server or a replicated SharePoint and Epicore server, which can be configured to sync with the primary servers, when communication lines are not as busy. Because many people at this location are constantly accessing the servers in SE US, the whole internal network slows to a halt, and even accessing Google or MSN becomes dreadfully slow.

I hope you can help me: My "System Interrupts" process is at 15%-30% all the time. It just disappears after restart for some time. My System is Windows 8.1, all updates, nothing special new HP x360 notebook.
I know i need xperf and WPA to analyse. I am at the point where i do the XPERF -on Diag...whatever stuff and load the .etl file into Windows performance analyzer.
But in every forum they say "look for the cpu interrupts tab" and go on with "summary view" and look for highest spikes.
Well...i dont see INTERRUPTS section anywhere! Just DPC / ISR usage/blabla... under CPU section.
can you help me? I am SOOO close, i just cant access the damn interrupts data!!! :((

As I know Page file is Technic that when My Ram is Full move some data (Dirty data) to Secondary location on hard disk (C:\pagefile.sys by default).
Base my understanding until my Ram isn't full , Page file wont use . is it correct ?
and the second question is why My System use Page fault & PF Delta while there is a lot of free memory ? And PF Delta change continuously .

I have just installed a PCIE 1394a Firewire card from Astrotek, that is supposed to be plug and play, to my PC. It didn't come with a Driver CD. A message comes up saying, "Your version of Microsoft Depreciated DLL components isn't compatible with this version of Windows".
I'm running Windows 8, but I think the firewire card is only compatible with Windows XP. Because, the Device Manager says the card is working properly, but my Ulead Video Suite won't display a picture or sound, although it does control my video camera with the on-screen display buttons.
Are there any downloads available to fix this problem, or any other solutions?
I am running the new Windows Performance Toolkit (for Win 8.1) on Windows Server 2012 R2. When i run the command

"xperf -on LATENCY+ALL_FAULTS+IPI -f trace.etl".
the traces are collected, but the symbols do not load
However, when I run this command,
2.
xperf -start perf!GeneralProfiles.InSequentialFile
timeout 10
xperf -stop perf!GeneralProfiles.InSequentialFile trace2.etl
the similar traces are collected, and the symbols load correctly.
I know there is no registry/path problem with the symbols because they load in Case 2. Is there a problem with running "Xperf -on" on the new toolkit? Is there a way to get the symbols to load with the traces that I already have?

Hello, We are starting a partnership process to reach Silver Application Development competency. I have been read the Windows ACK Whitepaper and I got some doubts about the validation process. In the section "Using the Windows ACK -> Configuring a test environment" is written: "You should perform all tests on a computer that is running a clean installation of Windows. Other than the application being tested, don't install additional applications or utilities such as antivirus software or a third-party firewall, because they may taint the outcome of the tests." I understand this text, but my application needs install two another applications in order to work, these applications are SQL Server 2005 Express and Crystal Reports support files. When trying to view a show on NetfliX, it doesn't start, and says "Error code N8152, Digital Rights Management Error..."
Any ideas? I've unin-re-installed Silverlight 5 and checked on my antivirus software. Suggestions?
I'm on windows xp with webroot antivirus.
