Standard defrag tool working.

Xbootmgr WAS working couple months ago, no "optimizers" and other stuff was used.

Maybe i can try something else?

The xperf logs generated on Windows 8.1 x64 could not be displayed correctly by xperf on Windows 7 x64

I created a xperf log on Windows 8.1 x64. I can view it without any problems on Windows 8.1 x64. But when I open it wiht xperf on Windows 7 x64, the lift time of all processes is permanent, which means there is no processes start/stop during the log collection. It is wrong. My co-worker also met this problem on his machine. I am using xperf (WPA) version 6.3.9600.16384, which was installed a couple of weeks ago. It should be a pretty new version. Does anyone know how to solve the problem?

By the way, I can't attach the xperf log here because there is some sensitive information. Sorry about that.

Thanks,

Pu

URGENT: how do I get to know PID from perfmon.exe for ".NET CLR xxxxx" instances

$

Hi,

Since my application has number of processes running with same name, (for an example: <myproduct.exe, PID=1>, <myproduct.exe, PID=2>, <myproduct.exe, PID=3> etc..) but I’m interested in just one among them (for me only option left is to choose the one using PID).

I’ve already tried with registry settings as recommended by: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2010/03/30/perfmon-identifying-processes-by-pid-instead-of-instance.aspx

It works for only if we select counter type as "Process".

But it does not work for “.NET CLR Memory” counters which I’m really interested in.

Urgent*** Please help/suggest me, if there is way to know PID for “.NET CLR counter types.

This could a very common requirement that would really be useful to anybody, I'm wondering how such a basic information is missing from the tool by default.

Eventvwr logs over 6200 errors and warnings

My setup:
Dell i7 with 8G of memory.
Windows 7 sp1 Prof
SQLServer 2008 with BIDS2008
Oracle11gR2  with SQLPLus and SQLdeveloper
Java 7 Update 40 Std Edition
McAffee
Malwarebytes

eventvwr shows over 6,200 errors and warnings.
Errors include kernel-event tracing, MCUpdate, PrintService, DHCP client, DistributedCOM, SQLISService100, MSSQLServer... and many more

But the laptop boots up and run all the installed software without complaining...

QUESTION 1: How to I clear the events in eventvwr and start over so I can monitor the errors as they occur?

QUESTION 2: On startup, McAffee asks me whether I want to allow modification to the disk, this usually occurs after some apps downloaded updates e.g. Windows updates, Adobe updates etc...

I paid over $200 for some company to clean that up, now it's back again :(

"Can't load counters" in Perfmon when adding counters with lodctr

$

Hey,

I'm working with C/C++ in windows 7 64 bit and was trying to add my own performance counter using the version 2.0 counter framework (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa965334(v=VS.85).aspx). Whatever i did, in perfmon (when trying to add my counter) my counter set was always shown with it's GUID and not the given name in the manifest file.  Also, when selecting my counterset it always showed "Can't load counters".  I searched for a day on this and already had a feeling that it was some kind of problem with admin rights.  It seems that running lodctr with a user that has administrator rights is not enough, although lodctr returns a successful completion of the addition of the counter set.  When adding my user to the "Performance Monitor Users" and "Performance Log Users" group, my counter set was finally shown correctly in perfmon.

I hope this info will help others because this isn't mentioned in the counter documentation (or not very visible).

Or is it possible to run WPA to check a particular application?

Provider mapping for old Kernel groups?

$

I just started getting familiar with the old xperf and the new WPR/WPA toolkit,  couple of questions

1) I was interested in recording interrupt/DPC type traces similar to the older 'latency' kernel group.  I don't understand which Provider captures these same metrics (kernel interrupt, DPC timing) ?

2) When looking at Kernel Interrupts, I am interested in observing which CPU interrupts are being serviced on.  (I am playing with the affinity policy tool and fibre channel interrupts).   is there a Provider that would help me drill down Interrupts by CPU?

Thanks!

ERROR: An event session cannot be started without any providers?

I was trying to get the storport provider that Yong posted and I get the above error despite checking to ensure the log mode is FILE.

Not sure if the provider names are case sensitive, changing the provider name from Microsoft-Windows-Storport to Microsoft-Windows-StorPort didn't help either.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Laptop has a really slow performance for low disk space problem

Recently, the laptop C partition is running out of space. A low disk space notice has stopped me installing new programs many times. The laptop performance also becomes really slow. I have already deleted all useless files, folders, programs and more. But, this low disk space problem still exists. What’s going on there? Do you have any idea for me to fix this? Thanks in advance!

1) Do we have Report on WINDOWS Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2?

2) What kind of Hardware FC Storage Array are used as part of the testing (WIN2K8 R2)?

3) Apart from predefined  scenarios,  Is there a way I can write customer scenarios and hook this to the tool?

thanks, Your help is highly appreciated.

"Unknown" (-1) Process in Windows Performance Analyzer

So my laptop which runs windows 7 premium has been experiencing a lot of memory issues. I decided to investigate it and I found that a process named "Unknown" (-1) seems to be taking quite a lot of my memory. Any idea how to figure out what this is and prevent it?

If you guys know anything about it that would be great. I've been trying to investigate this performance drop for a while now and this is kind of a dead end. ( I have so many images/links to help figure it out but "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account. )
